Herold's Bay environment

The Southern Cape has an abundance of activities that offer excitement and adventure or just gives you the freedom you need.

The old cave at the beach is where the last Blue Buck skeleton was found, having become extinct during the early 1900’s. There is an abundance of bird life, including the rare Knysna Loerie, that visits the surroundings quite often.

The Southern Right Whale is always cajoling in the bay during the winter months. Visiting schools of barracuda and dolphins are often spotted from our magnificent lookout location. Fynbos in this area provides a wonderful habitat for butterflies and includes up to 30 different species.

With green hills and cool valleys, majestic pounding waves and spacious beach expanses contribute to the unique environment offered only by Herold’s Bay.
